Cookie Policy
Last updated 4 October 2026
This explains the cookies and similar browser storage BrainVault uses, and how you choose which ones are allowed. Cookies are small files your browser keeps for a website.
Always on: needed for the service to work
These can't be switched off, because sign-in and workspaces wouldn't work without them:
Login session (a cookie named sb-…-auth-token, set by our login provider Supabase): keeps you signed in. It can last up to about 13 months (400 days), is refreshed while you use the app, and is removed when you sign out.
Current workspace (ims_tenant): remembers which workspace you're working in. Lasts up to 1 year.
Your cookie choice (bv_consent): remembers what you chose below. Lasts 1 year.
Only with your permission
These are only used if you choose "Allow all":
Page-visit and speed measurements (Vercel Web Analytics and Speed Insights): count which pages are visited and how fast they load, so we can improve the app. They don't use cookies, don't identify you, and we remove search words and record IDs from page addresses before anything is sent.
Partner referral (bv_ref): if you arrived through a partner's link, remembers which partner sent you for up to 45 days, so they can be credited if your organisation signs up.
Stored in your browser by the app
The app also keeps a few settings in your browser's own storage, only on your device and never sent to us: whether the sidebar is collapsed, your dashboard layout, recent searches in the command palette, an unsent idea draft, your guided-tour progress, and which tips you dismissed. You can clear them by clearing your browser's site data.
Changing your choice
Use "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any legal page to change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings; if you block the ones that are always on, you won't be able to sign in.
